We are glad to share that the Department of Law, Green University of Bangladesh along with Green University Law and Mooting Society, has successfully organized "Inauguration of the State of the Art Moot Court Facility" on May 25, 2024, in A-601 (Moot Court Room). In this event, more than 80 individuals were present, including students, all the faculty members of Dept. of Law, and distinguished guests.
The event commenced with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Chief Guest along with Guest of honor, VC, Pro-VC and other distinguished guests at 11.00 AM symbolizing the official opening of our moot court facility.
The event began with recitation from the Holy Quran and Geeta followed by our National anthem. After that, Professor Dr. Mohammad Sharif Uddin, Vice Chancellor of GUB and Professor Dr. Khawza Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed, Pro Vice Chancellor of GUB greeted the Chief Guest Mr. Justice Ahmed Sohel, Hon'ble Justice, Supreme Court of Bangladesh and Guest of Honor Professor Dr. S M Masum Billah, Chairman and Dean, Dept. of Law and Faculty of Law, Jagannath University with Uttorio.
Captain (Navy) S M Salahuddin NGP, psc, MBA (LPR), Registrar of GUB warmly welcomed all attendees and delivered his opening speech. Next, Prof. Dr. Md. Fayzur Rahman, Dept. of EEE, Treasurer, GUB highlighted the significance of the moot court facility in his wonderful speech.
Prof Dr. Khawza Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed, Pro Vice-Chancellor, GUB who shared his experiences and history about how the moot court facility today came into reality and also delivered some basic guidelines to the students. This was followed by a speech from Professor Dr. Mohammad Sharif Uddin, Vice Chancellor, GUB who delivered his vision about this moot court facility and appreciated the organizers' effort for making this event successful.
The Guest of Honor Professor Dr. S M Masum Billah, Chairman and Dean, Dept. of Law and Faculty of Law, Jagannath University delivered his speech by inspiring the students how they should learn law by heart, what is their duty towards the society and nation and how they should utilize their opportunities they are getting from the moot court facility.
The Chief Guest Mr. Justice Ahmed Sohel, Supreme Court of Bangladesh shared his thoughts on mooting, how the students should participate in moot court competition, how they will be benefited and how these competitions can benefit them furnishing their skills in becoming a successful lawyer in near future.
The vote of thanks was delivered by the Session Chair Dr. MD. Arifuzzaman, Chairperson of the Dept. of Law, GUB, who thanked all the distinguished guests for their valuable time and encouraged all students to make the best use of the moot court facility.
The event was hosted by Bishwajit Ghosh, Lecturer, Dept. of Law and Tanusree Devi Asha, Lecturer, Dept. of Law. This remarkable event and the moot court facility stands as a testament to our commitment to fostering legal education and providing practical training opportunities to our students.
